My whole world crumbled into pieces and I fell to the ground, bawling my heart out when I returned home to Penang one weekend to hear my mom say, “Honey, I have something to tell you”. I felt a pain, a physical pain in my heart, the pain still so vivid in my mind and I cannot forget that moment. I couldn’t go on with my life. How could I? Bam-Bam is gone?
Bam-Bam was not there to greet me ecstatically as she normally does and when my mom said that, I had imagined the worst! Has she been run down by a car? Died of poison? What? What? What?
I felt a slight relief and there was a dim light at the end of the tunnel when mom said that Bam-Bam was lost and may have been dognapped. A big sigh of relief! There is still HOPE! I prayed and prayed that night and the next day, I prepared flyers with a big reward to be handed out.
Bruce & Hsuan were there with me for the weekend. Hsuan & I woke up early, photocopied the flyers and went house-to-house to drop them off in the mailboxes. I called out to Bam at every step of the way. Before we knew it, we had only one flyer left and needed to print more!
“WOOF! WOOF!”, Bam-Bam calls out to me as she heard my voice! There IS a God! My prayer was answered! I found my Bam-Bam! Of course, tears filled my eyes – I was overjoyed and my emotions consumed me! My Bam-Bam
This was over 5 years ago and till this day, I am so grateful to Hsuan, who was there for me, by my side, throughout the traumatic experience. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
It was a beautiful morning and Hsuan looked radiant but was feeling quite nervous! I couldn’t believe she was finally getting MARRIED!!!
Hsuan’s “Chee Muis” (girlfriends) arrived early that morning to prepare the games for the boys. Joyce is QUEEN of games! She even researches them online and modifies them to make it tougher for the boys! (Revenge time!) It was chaos when 20 boys hovered over the girls as they reached the hotel. The boys were sporting enough and played obediently to the rules of the games! In fact, some of them seemed to be enjoying themselves!
Here are some of my favorite shots of the day!

Joyce is QUEEN of games! She has so many cool ideas to torture the boys!

This piece of bitter gourd was passed around to at least 10 boys!

The aim of the game is to roll a hard ball egg, with the mouth, up and out of Bruce’s pants!

Hmmm… Bruce seems to be enjoying himself!

Looks like Bruce is liking this too!

I like this part – they weighed the boys and summed up their total weights in kg (lucky for them they weren’t in lbs!). This was the total amount they had to pay in “Ang Pao” (Red packet) money!

The dinner was held at Oriental at Jaya 33 and the place was beautifully decorated with flowers by Arada Designs.
The life of the party was Bruce’s mom who broke out in song every 5 minutes… “I love you baby!” (lyrics from Can’t take my eyes off of you) and the rowdy Penang boys at my table started singing along a backup singers!

Bruce can NEVER keep a straight face!

It was pretty cool to see a few FIFOTO couples that night too!
