2009 February | FIFOTO Blog - Part 2

Greetings from ‘largest snowfall in 20 years” London. I’m having a great time here (albeit it being VEEEEEEEEERY COLD!!)

Yin Chieh & Mark’s wedding was my last FIFOTO shoot in sunny old Malaysia, 3 days before I left on a jet plane. I kinda miss being out in the sunny & humid weather.

Back to Yin Chieh & Mark’s wedding.

Turns out, I have actually met Yin Chieh before. She used to work with Aiping. What a small world eh…

The day started out early in Subang. Yin Chieh and her family got ready here first before making the journey to the church in Seremban.

YC’s gown, shoes, makeup and hair were all done by the same person!! Amazing eh!!

The Seremban Church of the Visitation, looks really good! David was there waaaaay too early, hence it was nice & quiet when he took this shot.

I love churches – the long aisles and high ceilings

Can you see the anticipation on YC’s face on the way to church?

Mark was all raring to go!

Sneaking a kiss when no one is looking??

The massive group picture on the steps of the Church

The tea ceremony & luncheon was held at Royale Bintang Hotel. The spread was vegetarian, even the cake was specially made for vegetarians!

David & I took some portraits of the couple around the hotel after the luncheo

After everything was ALMOST over, we took some really fun shots of the bride and groom with their friends

I really enjoyed taking these fun portraits. Maybe next time (if there is a demand) we could set up a real photo wall in a corner of the wedding dinner venue just for fun portraits like these. Let us know what you prospective brides & grooms think about having a photo wall at your wedding and maybe we can have that as an add-on to our wedding packages. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Simeon & Leah

4.02.2009

I was back in Penang for the Chinese New Year holidays and fell sick on the second day – the flu, again! Apparently, all the bacteria and virus had remained in my system from the time I was sick over New Year because I self-medicated and did not “de-congest”. I took Clarinase and Actifed which dried up my mucus but remained congested in my ear, nose and throat. Not fun! I could hardly breathe! Finally saw a Dr in Penang and she gave me like 8 different kinds of meds! Crazy! The worst part – I didn’t get to eat my favorite Sister’s Char Koay Teow at all!

I’m currently on vacation in Hong Kong. The weather here is just perfect and I’m loving it! Allen has finally moved into an apartment and we spent the first 2 days furnishing it with Ikea furniture. Today, the last few items – the sofa, dining and TV cabs got in and I won’t have to work on the floor no more! The view from his room is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! We are on the 30th floor and it has a great view of the harbor and the city! When the city lights come on at night, it’s just so surreal!

Simeon & Leah’s wedding was back in December (the weekend we celebrated Bam-Bam’s 11th birthday!). Simeon is cousins with Jeremy, who’s wedding was photographed by Steve & David two years ago (time flies!). The day of their wedding was the first time I had met them as they live in Australia. It was nice to finally meet them after months and months of email communication!

Held at the E&O Hotel, their wedding started with a garden ceremony by the sea followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and a western dinner reception. We managed to explore the hotel venue and squeeze in a portrait session before and after the garden ceremony. I was captivated by Leah’s lovely blue eyes and she also looked elegant when she changed into her red cheong sam! Simeon definitely wins the title of FIFOTO’s “Most Emotional Groom”, beating Calvin (who’s wedding Steve & David shot back in Nov last year) hands down! It was indeed a very special day for them – they have been together for 11 years!!!

There was so much love in the air!!!

I’ve never seen a groom tie a corset so well!

I love Leah’s blueish green eyes!

The teary-eyed groom was emotional throughout the evening…

Leah looked ravishing in her red cheongsam!

I nearly fell off the edge taking this shot as I only had my 24-70mm with me and everyone decided that they wanted a big group shot! (I had no time to get my wide angle and if I had taken half a step further, I would have been swimming in the sea!)

My favorite part of all wedding receptions – the dancing!!
