This is our last night in Austin and we’ve just had a fantastic japanese-fusion meal at Julie & Peter’s favorite restaurant – Uchi. I’ve had so much fun back here – eating and partying and the best part, seeing all my friends again!

Due to special request from the lovely couple (more like pressure.. hahahaha j/k), here’s a preview of their wedding last Saturday at Green Pastures!

Congrats to Julie & Peter! Thank you for having us be a part of your wedding!

Dunhill Kaizen

27.03.2009

“Kaizen” is a Japanese term for continuous improvement and is a famous concept adopted by many large manufacturing corporations. One of the most popular case studies we read about in many of my MBA classes is on Toyota’s success with the implementation of this philosophy to reduce costs, improve quality and maximize profits. It’s great to see it being implemented in real life!

British American Tobacco had a company-wide launch for their Kaizen campaign. Initialized by the Operations department, this concept has proven successful and now it’s being adopted by all departments in the company. Employees are encouraged to submit their ideas and spur creative ideas for improvement.

On a personal note, if you’re guessing if I’m already back from my trip, the answer is No! In fact, we should be making our way to Austin now. Steve and I have a wedding to shoot this Saturday! (Preview photos will be posted when I return to HK!) Am excited to be returning to Austin for a visit. The last time I was back was in 2005 for my best friend’s engagement dinner. ( Yes, I am a very good friend to fly all the way to the States for an engagement dinner! It made a very good excuse for going back!) And since her wedding in 2007 was in Arizona, we didn’t have the time to make a trip to Austin two years ago! All the food I want to eat includes – Chik-fil-A (One of my all-time favorite fast food joints next to Mos Burger! We used to doodle their logo in class when we were bored), Hula Hut’s Coconut shrimp, Amy’s Ice cream (brandy flavor with Oreo’s crush ins!), Fuddruckers (Best beefburgers in the world!), Schlotzky’s Deli and if we have time, Quesadillas from Austin Java Co, Le Madeline Salad, Trudy’s for margaritas! We will definitely drop by 4th or 6th street for some Chocolate cake shots!

In case you’re wondering, no, I am not back from the US yet! Steve, Aips, Allen and I are currently in Austin. We had just taken our road trip from SF to LA and it was just amazing! We drove along the coast and enjoyed the magnificent scenery of the pacific ocean. Our main trip to LA was to meet Jasmine Star and have our portraits taken by the brilliant OC wedding photographer. Will blog more on our trip later!

I have 10 more days of vacation – we are in Austin to shoot a wedding this Saturday and then I leave for HK on Tuesday while Steve & Aips continue their US adventure in Las Vegas, Boston and New York! (I’m so jealous!) Here’s a little update on a shoot I didn’t have time to post before!

Nike is the synonym to sportswear. At least, that is the case for me. If you saw me at the gym, you’d think i was sponsored by them! Of course, it was a pleasure to shoot a Nike event! (It’s been a long time since I last shot for them!) One thing they are really good at is at event setups. I have so much fun using their shoes on display as props for artistic shots!

The Nike Women’s training club event was the launch of a daily workout routine for young women in an attempt to promote a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle. The workout focuses on a combination of cardio, core strength, balance and flexibility. All the invited guests received sportwear and a pair of shoes! New shoes such as the Nike Zoom Sister One+ with special soles that give multi directional support and flexibility were introduced alongside the launch.

It’s so surreal that we’re meeting Fiona in San Francisco to shoot Chamatch & Felicia’s Pre Wedding shots….it was fun getting into shooting again, i kinda miss it.

And it’s quite true that the light in US is better than Malaysia coz the pictures turned out sooooo good!!

True to our forecast, the weather was just fabulous on the day of the shoot!! The couple said that the weather before the shoot was kinda wet and gloomy…..hrrmmm….. Fifoto witchcraft at it again!!!

Here’s a preview from the the shoot and can’t wait to shoot their wedding this Saturday.
