2009 April | FIFOTO Blog - Part 2

It was Dejavu for me as I flew back from HK to make it back in time for Club 21′s newly refurbished location shoot at KLCC.

After a good early breakfast at San Francisco Coffee, my favorite place for sandwiches and coffee (too bad they don’t have one at the Pavilion so I have to make do with Coffee Bean’s salad or Subway’s sandwiches!), I headed to CK Accessories. It is one third the size of the clothing store and I was done in like 20 minutes! Right next door, is Mulberry and the store is tastefully fitted with a light wood finish and warm lighting. Of course, it was mainly the bags that stood out and I was eyeing a few! Didn’t dare look at the prices after 2 weeks of shopping in the US and returning from HK! Besides, the sales in HK really do make it worth the trip there! My friend had bought a funky Mulberry clutch at 70% off!!!

There’s something different about the light in the US… The light there seems warmer, crispier and somehow, I feel like the photos turn out better! Oh how I wish I could spend more time in the US… working…!

Steve, Aips and I arrived a couple days earlier to shoot Chamath & Felicia’s pre-wedding photos. Felicia had a list of places she wanted to go to – Ferry Building, Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard… We managed to stop by a few more places along the way as I got excited about how green the grass was and how blue the skies were! We pretty much stopped at every mile to take photos!

Felicia reminds me of the Asian version of Sarah Jessica Parker! It was so much fun photographing them! I especially loved her cute Betsy Johnson dress that was just purrrrfect for the shoot!! Poor girl was freezing in the later part of the shoot though!

They are off to Trinidad (where Chamath’s from) for a wedding party there and I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun!

Have a great trip you guys! Wedding photos to come soon!

Two trams stopped right in front of us at the top of Lombard St and we managed to get this shot while all the passengers stared at them kissing!

Lombard…

Aren’t they so cute together?

We ended up in the Fisherman’s wharf at sunset…

My 28th Birthday!

18.04.2009

Two years ago, a week before my birthday, my friend asked me how old I was gonna be… I said..”old… 28″.. Both Allen n her looked at me, stunned! I was only turning 27!!!! I had spent the entire year thinking I was 27 and was feeling old and wondering where all those years had gone!

This sudden revelation put a big smile on my face and I was happy… relieved, actually that I was only turning 27! Today, I feel happy turning 28. I feel so blessed to have all the people I love around me and supporting me in all I do…Mom, Dad & Allen. And I’m so grateful for the success with FIFOTO and for having such a great team to work with who have always been there at every step of the way!

Today, I’ll be spending my birthday with close friends, some of whom I haven’t seen in ages! And although I’ve been spending the last 1-2 years working my *ss off and going to school, leaving little time for myself and catching up with them, I constantly remind myself how important good friends are and how much I cherish their friendship! Special thanks to Melvin & Christine for coming all the way from S’pore to spend the weekend with me!

My birthday wish this year is for good health for everyone… mom, dad, Al + his family and Bam-Bam… And because I’m always stressed out with work and school, I’d like to think of the little things that make me happy!

In no particular order of importance…

1. Bam-bam
2. Sister’s char koay teow, kobe steak, black sesame ice cream, amy’s white chocolate with Oreos crush ins, durians & Rambutans, and fried eggs over easy by Allen!
3. Hanging out with friends and the fact that nothing has changed even if we haven’t seen each other for years at a time! We just catch up right back where we had left off!
4. Facials at the energy spa by Maki who unfortunately is returning to the Phillippines this May…
5. Body lotions, scrubs and showel gels.. My all time favorites are: Gucci Envy body lotion, Kiehl’s apricot scrub, Origin’s Ginger scrub, Crabtree & Evelyn’s Nomad shower gel and Burberry’s Baby Touch eau de toilette.
6. Shopping for anything – gagdets, groceries, stationary, music…clothes, bags and shoes goes without saying!
7. Watching tv or a movie at home, without having to worry about work or school..(that rarely ever happens!)
8. Beach holidays and getting a tan!
9. Winter, but only when I’m appropriately dressed for it!
10. A good workout at the gym or hiking with Allen and feeling really fit and healthy afterwards!

And here’s something that always puts a smile on my face and hopefully will on you too!

Julie & Peter

17.04.2009

Julie & Peter’s wedding was held at Green Pastures, a quaint bungalow surrounded by greenery and peacocks in the compound! I was very excited about their wedding because it was my first event shoot in the US! The civil ceremony was held in the garden, under a line of colorful paper cranes, strung up between two trees. Carolyn and some girls had arrived earlier to hang them up! How sweet! The weather was just perfect for an outdoor wedding – about 15 degrees, just nice!

Peter wins the title of “Most Nervous Groom”! To keep calm, he kept hugging Julie throughout the ceremony which was really cute! I also loved the fact they included their dog, Penny was part of the ceremony!

The best part about American weddings – the dinners are short and sweet and the majority of the night is spent on the dance floor! The band did a great job in getting everyone into the groove!

We enjoyed ourselves so much!

Many thanks to Julie & Peter for letting us be a part of their special day!

We were so lucky to catch this shot of the white peacock!

Penny… their baby…

Love this shot by Aips!

The first dance…

And the best part about weddings…DANCING!

The lovely couples…

One last shot before we called it an evening… Julie had to withstand the cold but it made for a warm shot!
