2009 May | FIFOTO Blog - Part 2

She’s a doctor, he’s an engineer. They met 10 years ago and have been together since. And when she moved to the UK for her studies, not long after, he went to pursue his Masters. They were apart for about a year but they now both live in Singapore! Where love is concern, distance is not a barrier…

Kelvin & Hun Yee are the winners of our proposal story contest, “Will you marry me?”. His story was very touching, romantic and well thought-out and he’s now known as the famous “Piano Man”! It was good to finally meet them and we had so much fun shooting at an abandoned lot which they were up for!

They were slightly uncomfortable on their own but…

…felt more at ease when they had each other as prop!

Cool shoes, Kelvin!

Hun Yee is very ticklish but looked super cute being tickled!

This couldn’t have been a more perfect picture!

This is the newsletter sent out recently and an excerpt taken from the SPCA website!

More than 50 people and 30 dogs attended our Animal Par-Tea @ Palate Palette last Sunday! Snacking on delicious sandwiches, cookies, crème brulee, potato wedges, and mousse cups, animal lovers mingled and chatted happily among themselves. The pet photography session sponsored by Ms Fiona (http://www.fifoto.com/) was very popular, as were the pet accessories by thirtyfour (http://www.thirtyfour.net/)! OxyFresh also set up a booth, where they offered to get everyone’s ears squeaky –clean (dogs only, of course.) We’d like to thank Su-Ann, Ben, Fiona, Shuen Kee, Mary, Mr Bernard, and all our lovely guests for their support.

Proceeds from the Par-Tea will be channeled towards a Pulau Ketam fund – SPCA and Save A Stray will be embarking on a mass sterilization operation on the island, which is facing a stray dog crisis.

Watch out for the next gathering, coming your way real soon!

I can’t remember the last time I spoke publicly… it’s been so long I forgot when! Giving presentations in my MBA classes doesn’t really count, I think – you know the people and most of the time, it’s a group presentation which takes the pressure off! I’ve been invited to speak at the upcoming ShootFest 001 “unconference” and the thought of speaking in public is just nerve wrecking! My slot is for Sat, June 6 at 11am, so if you’re free, interested in photography or would just like to show your moral support, do register and drop by!
Here are the details:
The very first ShootFest 001: The Wedding will be held on 6th & 7th of June 2009 at the Integricity office in Centrepoint, Bandar Utama and you are all invited to participate!
So what is ShootFest: The Wedding all about?
Each ShootFest is a media unconference primarily for photographers and videographers. This first one that is organized is themed The Wedding and is meant for professionals, freelancers and anyone interested in wedding photography and videography.
The benefits of ShootFests are knowledge-sharing, networking and raising the bar for the industry. If you feel you don’t want to share any of your kung-fu, then the unconference is probably not for you. We want to breed improvement for everyone, and need you to share your thoughts too!
More Details Please!
Date: 6th & 7th June 2009 (Saturday & Sunday). Starts at 10am, registration starts at 9am.
Venue: Integricity office, Centrepoint Bandar Utama, PJ

Happy Labor Day! I am so thankful that today is my day off and it’s sandwiched by the entire weekend of shoots. Today, I can fully appreciate the meaning of “LABOR” and take a break and spend sometime on my paper, which I feel motivated about now that both my professors have given me some direction on the survey I’m working on!

Will be attending a mini MBA reunion party this afternoon… can’t wait to see all my ex classmates from before and find out how everyone else (those who are writing their dissertations this semester) is doing on their paper!

My first shoot in Hong Kong was for a good friend of mine, Gricia, a fellow Malaysian, based out of Hong Kong, managing a chain of hotel and resorts for the Avillion Hotel Group. One of her latest projects was construction of the Avi Spa at the Avillion, Port Dickson and her efforts include rebranding the Avillion image. This vibrant young lady is a socialite and a trendsetter and we had such a good time walking about the streets of Soho!

My favorite shot of the day!

This is my other favorite shot of the day.. in front of a “members only” lounge called “Feather Boa” where our good friend Gaven keeps getting kicked out of! (There are tons of these “members only” places in HK to escape having to apply for a full liquor/club license, or something to that extent)
