Today, the world has loss someone great. It was shocking to find out the devastating news first thing this morning that the King of Pop died from a cardiac arrest at age 50. Is this true? Am I dreaming? Michael Jackson has passed away? No way!!! I turned to CNN and couldn’t believe what I saw! I’m saddened and still in shock. Albeit his idiosyncrasies , I am sure everyone agrees with me that he was a legendary singer and performer. I remember watching him in concert a long long time ago and his stage presence was just extraordinary… it moved me to tears!

Michael Jackson was a prodigy, an icon in a league of his own who revolutionized the music industry and inspired many artists and fans. The King of Pop will be missed. His music will live on…

Tengku Asra & Tariq

25.06.2009

It’s halfway through the week and I’m glad I lived pass the crazy deadlines! Yes, crazy’s the word! With a thousand and one things on my to-do list, I was definitely not looking forward to it, especially after a feastful weekend in Penang. To add to the pressure, both Corrine and Shila weren’t able to make it to the studio this week so TGIS! (Thank God it’s Steve!) As usual, Steve came to the rescue and helped me survive the hard part of the week!

Perfection. That’s the word that sticks out in my head when I think of Tengku Asra and Tariq’s wedding. From the flowers to how the hantaran (gifts) were laid on the ground, everything had to be perfect! To begin with, the nikah was a beautiful ceremony followed by a merinjis and a luncheon in the garden where soft linen drapes and crystal chandeliers overhung.

The reception was held at the Shangrila a few days later and it was a grand affair! I was mesmerized by the decor when I stopped by in the morning to deliver their express prints. Photos from the Nikah were enlarged and framed for display at the reception area. The ballroom looked like a scene right out of the enchanted castle! The sheer size of the main table was just spectacular! Cookies, cupcakes, flowers, crystals lamps and candles filled the space of the very large main table and every other table. And when I looked over and saw a dance floor at the other end of the ballroom, I knew it was going to be a splendid night!

Tariq sat nervously in the waiting room… this was the girl he’d dream of marrying. They are childhood friends and went to school together. Asra was the girl he always admired even when they were kids. Today is his dream come true!

Their wedding reception was held a few days later at the Shangrila

Tengku Asra, bedazzled!

Last week zoomed by for me. My week started out in Singapore. I was there to attend my dad’s 80th Birthday which turned out to be a huge success and a lotta fun! My dad and I flew back to KL for the day on Wed and as he flew back to S’pore, Steve and I drove back to Penang that evening. We spent the next five days in Penang, eating, shooting, eating, shooting, eating, shooting and eating, you get my drift? It’s always food galore whenever I’m back home. My daily routine starts with Sister’s CKT (for those of you who might mistake that for Chi Kut Teh, it’s Char Koay Teow!) and a cup of Kopi-O-Peng (Black ice coffee). And because it is durian, rambutan and cempedak season, my mom made sure that none of those were lacking on the dining table. We had them for lunch, tea and dinner and any other meal in between that we could squeeze in. Yes… it was foodfest and I have photos to vouch for it!

Now back to the main reason we were back in Penang – it was Praveen & Ankur’s wedding! It was a Punjabi wedding and like all Punjabi weddings, it lasted quite a number of days! The thing I like most is the dancing! I will blog more about it later (as I’m supposed to get cracking on my dissertation!) but here’s a preview of the lovely couple!

2 watch launches barely a week apart!! Why is destiny tempting me to depart with my (non-existent at the moment) money to get one of these expensive watches?

Franck Muller watches have always been quite interesting. The designs that come out from the “Master of Complications” is just weird, and that is what makes it so darn interesting.

The event was to introduce the new collection to their loyal customers. It was a a luxurious event, the guests were treated to the famous Carcosa High Tea, a simple makeover, and a chance for them to get a portrait of themselves wearing the uniquely interesting Franck Muller watches.
