Yun Lee & Aik Han

28.01.2010

We are talking about a vibrant young women who stops at nothing to get what she wants! She is someone so determined and persistent she successfully convinced the management at KLPac to allow us to do her pre-wedding shots there. (and even after being turned down a few times, her perseverance proved to be worth the while!)

She is another bride who is a diligent planner and pays close attention to detail… And with the help of super wedding planner Shen-Yi, needless to say, the wedding day and reception turned out perfect! Aik Han, on the other hand is one of the most chilled out and laid back grooms! He’s easy going and goes with the flow!

The tea ceremony session was indeed an interesting one to shoot. The boys arrived looking suave in their white RayBan sunnies and Black suites and the girls (plus a few boys on Yun Lee’s side) looked cute in their little white dresses and angelic halos. Among other things (such as licking salt off each others’ necks), the girls made the boys dance to their (the boys’!!) favorite tune, “Nobody” by the Wondergirls, a song which stuck in my head and I became completely addicted to after that!!

The dinner reception was held at the Dorsett, Subang. The aisle was beautifully lined with flower pews and the highlight for the evening was when Joe Flizzow, one of Aik Han’s groomsmen for the day, got on stage and dedicated a song to the lovely couple!

Yun Lee looked stunning in this lacy satin cheongsam beaded with Swarovski crystals by Divine Couture.

FRIDAY!!! I reminisce the number of times Bruce randomly shouted it while we were at Pangkor… ahhhh… it’s been a week since our Pangkor trip and all of us who went already miss each other and wanting another beach holiday! So, it’s Friday and I’m totally looking forward to this weekend, not because there’s anything special planned (well, actually, the inaugural class of FIFOTO 101 are all going on a field trip Sunday evening, so that’s pretty exciting!!), but because it’ll finally be a weekend of NO plans and just pure chillin’ and going with the flow!! (Apart from having to wake up at 6am on Sunday for a location shoot in Cyberjaya, which to me, is, as they say in Cantonese, “SAP SAP SUI”, compared to a full on wedding shoot!)

For those of you who missed this the last time round, we are having our second FIFOTO 101 class! It will take place every Sunday in March and I can assure you, it’s gonna be a classroom of fun-filled learning and exciting challenges!! Seats are limited and we have a few more slots left so email me if you’re interested!

Details as follows:

Thank you. Thank you for all your well wishes and your positive energy and good vibes you’ve sent to Bam-Bam. Amazingly, she has recovered completely since last Saturday and she has been well and back to her normal self so far. And as I continue to pray for her health and well being, I’d also like to pray for a dear friend of mine who’s dad’s health has been deteriorating. My thoughts and well wishes goes out to Yang and his family through these tough times which I’m positive they will pull through! And also, prayers to Fiona’s (Teff) grandma who was recently admitted to the hospital…

On the lighter side of things, we celebrated Bruce and Yang’s birthday at Pangkor Laut Resort last weekend and as all my Pangkor trips, they are always too short but simply amazing and each experience there is just special, all thanks to Jeff who we can’t thank him enough for!!! I’m nicely tanned and lovin’ it! … Although I think one more afternoon by the beach will just perfect my tan! Just can’t wait for the next beach holiday!

The Heineken Green Room State of Mind is a series of art projects that started last year and this time round, focused on photography. I was stoked to be one of the three photographers, Kelvin Oon, better known to many as DJ ChaseyLain of Twilight Actiongirl (TAG) and Choen, renowned Malaysian commercial photographer, to be involved in the last Heineken Green Room project.  A preview party was held a couple weeks back at Daikanyama and our photos were exhibited during the party last Saturday at KL Life, Heineken’s biggest Green room event ever! Our works were based on our personal musical inspirations, translated through our photography. When I was approached by Natasha, I knew right there and then, what I wanted to do! Light painting of course! It’s one of my favorite photography techniques and in this case, was so closely linked to my two top favorite music genres; progressive and deep house! It brought me back to my old school party/raver days when I played with LED lights and glow sticks and it was so easy to connect the dots!

Heineken = drinking = partying = house music = raves = lights & glow sticks!

The series of photographs I created were based on my all-time favorite deep & progressive house tracks. Using a variety of light sources, I played my favorite tracks and light-painted! The strokes, flow and motions were based on the emotions the rhythm exuded in me. Special thanks to Steve & Ming who were there to help me with the additional back lighting!

Here are the shots! Tell me what you think! Prints are also available for sale! Contact me at fiona@fifoto.com if you’re interested!

The 2 new heads of the Agency, Milk + Co were full of smiles and jokes throughout the shoot at their stylish and incredibly colourful headquarters in Menara Manulife. We were a bit spoilt for choice trying to decide where to shoot. Once we got started, it was obvious that these two were no strangers to the camera, they took directions like seasoned models (Especially Wei!). We laughed, we chatted, we joked… we even took some pictures! Easily one of the fastest and most comfortable portrait shoots I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting.
