2010 October | FIFOTO Blog

This has been the very first time I have covered so many events with a particular couple. First there was the lovely ROM on a private boat at Putrajaya, followed by lovely garden wedding in the land of the hornbills Kota Kinabalu and finally ending with a huge blast back here in Kuala Lumpur. It has truly been a pleasure to have shared so much time with both Joveyn & Henry that it makes me reaffirm my beliefs that some people are just truly made for each other.

Well, let me just first start off with the garden wedding in Kota Kinabalu. It almost didn’t happen as it started to drizzle while Joveyn was getting her makeup done. But just as we decided to make our way down, it stopped. It ALWAYS does when it comes to all of our FIFOTO shoots. So thankfully, the garden wedding proceeded as planned with its beautiful pink setting.

And did I mentioned I recently developed a fascination with silhouettes? Here’s one of my favourites I took of Joveyn and her lovely bridesmaids getting ready in the room.

As you can see, everything was set in pink!! The groomsmen’s ties, bridesmaid dresses and everything else at the garden!! Its a great thing that the weather had cleared up because the venue was simply amazing.

Jason, as always, was doing his thing and getting all the groomsmen to act all wacky!! They are truly a fun and friendly bunch.

Now, this is something new which I haven’t seen before. I have always seen couples light the unity candle which symbolizes the union of two individuals but this mixture of colored sand gave it a new twist and the pink certainly fitted well with the theme of a garden wedding!

In all honesty, we cannot take any credit for the posing in the next picture as this was decided by the groomsmen themselves!! Truly a funny bunch!!

And while I developed a knack for silhouettes, Jason seem to have develop his own artistry of “dress swirling”.

I absolutely love these pictures of a silhouette at sunset!! What made it even more special is the fact that the umbrella wasn’t a prop and it was really raining!! It was  a challenge trying to shoot with one hand while holding an umbrella to keep both myself and my cameras dry in the other…BUT it was totally worth it!!

Fast forwarding a week after Kota Kinabalu, Jason and I was covered the reception back here in KL. Henry & Joveyn went all out from having the traditional bridal games at the beautiful Terasek Brickhouse and having an Avatar inspired Tree-of-Life decoration/theme at the Westin, KL. And finally, after weeks of hearing about the infamous Mini since the ROM shoot, I finally got to see the cute white care tied with a huge ribbon! This was a gift from Henry to Joveyn as a wedding present! Talk about setting the bar high!

Joveyn looks stunning in a her red wedding dress!!

As it is pretty obvious as to how the Terasek Brickhouse acquired its name, we then took full opportunity to take a few portraits of the lovely couple utilizing its raw and beautiful red brick walls.

At the reception, guest were surrounded with numerous “Hello Kitty” memorabilia as well as pictures from their trip to Japan where Henry proposed.

Guest names are labeled with their corresponding tree cards hanging down from a dangling balloons before enteings the ballroom.

When Henry told me the setting was Avatar inspired, I thought it was just going to be to have some little blue light, a tree and a blue theme. But I was oh so wrong! They really went all out with the decorations! There stood a tree on each of the VIP tables and LED flower lights at every other table which was named after tree species!  It was definitely one of the most unique and creative wedding receptions ever!

To many, Westin Hotel may just be a wonderful and glamorous place to have a wedding reception but to both Henry and Joveyn, it will always be a place where they both met and fell in love…at this piano. Don’t they just look perfect for each other.

Congratulations to the lovely couple! It has truly been a great pleasure to be a part of your wedding celebration!!!

Baby Ryan

23.10.2010

He’s one of the sweetest, friendliest and good natured babies, allowing me to carry him within the first few minutes we met. Almost one, Ryan was so adorable with his curvaceous bald head and a smile that could melt hearts. And as most babies (and adults) are, he was intrigued by Bam-bam who also kept him entertained!

Things were different when Jon stripped him naked and placed him on the tabletop and the lights started flashing. Well, he was pretty OK at first but after awhile, probably got sick of being naked and the flashing lights. After much persuasion, tricks, toys and acting a little crazy to catch Ryan’s attention, he did calm down and after being swung around by mom and dad, he started to have a ton of fun, and of course, I had a blast snapping away!

It was very nice meeting Lily & Jon who returned to Melbourne the very next day!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Pink October

18.10.2010

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness, FIFOTO is collaborating with Pilatique this Pink October! Do show your support and help raise awareness! Please help share this with your friends and family who might be interested! See you there!

And another TGI Friday’s mushrooms in KL. Chaswood Resources (owners of TGIF Franchise) are on the onslaught to have TGIF’s all over town. And the latest and by far the greatest one was launched last week at Menara Hap Seng.

Why is is the greatest? Well, for one, our local TGIF people got the green light to design this TGIF out of the normal franchise specifications, which includes an large outdoor foyer area for  a ‘dining under the stars’ experience and also for live performances from bands and deejays as what was presented during the opening. This TGIF outlet was designed after classic American diners, with retro seating, the classic half circle booths, classic memorabilia adorning the walls, a surfboard (cowabunga dude!!), a gumball machine and also Marilyn Monroe in her most famous pose!

So, do check out this TGIF@HapSeng for a feel of dining in a classic American diner!
