2011 February | FIFOTO Blog

Overworked and underplayed. Those are the two causes of my flu. I’ve never had it so bad before. It got so bad that my left side of my jaw was aching as if my wisdom teeth were growing out (they aren’t, I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed years ago). I felt giddy, it hurt to eat and I could hardly breathe. By the time I saw the Dr, a fever had crept in. With much relief, I’m feeling a whole lot better now, after being drugged up with meds and pumped with water & vitamin C.

Playful. That would be the theme of the day for Brenda & Jason’s pre-wedding shoot. With Jason’s funny sense of humor and Brenda’s contagious laughter, it had set the mood for the day. My first time at Sekeping Tenggiri, I was intrigued by the simple, rustic and open architecture of the house. After 10mins of shooting the details of the place and after Jason pointed out that the lamps were made of recycled material, I was even more impressed by the meticulous effort put into it.

Brenda & Jason are a fun bunch. They met through salsa dancing and clicked right away and it’s quite obvious why! They are the outgoing, spontaneous, laugh-at-yourself kind of people which is what I love about them! This sporting couple were game to do anything as you will see in the photos to follow!

Their wedding was a couple weeks back and boy I gotta tell ya…. it was a night to remember! It was one filled with surprises and a lot of dancing! (Their wedding blog to come soon!)

Happy Friday!

The first wedding of 2011. Come to think of it, we’ve always had weddings on the very first day of the year. What a great way to start off the new year I say!

For Kin Khey & Cindy, the new year couldn’t have come any earlier. Khey was the last of 3 siblings to get married and all of them had gotten married one year apart from each other. And with what some says that it’s not good to have so many weddings in a family in a year, Khey had to wait for the next year to get married la coz Sook Ping (one of our FIFOTO brides) had already beaten him to it the year before.

Both Cindy and Khey live in Adelaide. And the interesting part is, Cindy is a kindergarten teacher and she works with toddlers everyday! It’s no wonder the new year couldn’t come any earlier for them to get married. Hehe.

The funniest part of the morning session was when Khey carried the bride into the room, well, let’s just say that Cindy caught some air, had a good flight and a slightly rough landing!

Their wedding dinner was held at Saujana Hotel (good choice! coz I also had my dinner reception there!) and they got to get ready at The Club, the ultra chiq and modern section of Saujana Hotel which was really pretty and made for some cool looking portraits!

During the dinner reception, there was this particular game that Sook Ping came up with whereby both the bride and groom had one side of each others shoes and they had to answer questions about themselves by putting up either the bride’s or the groom’s shoes. For example, if the question was “who’s a better kisser?”, they both had to put up the shoe of the person who they think is the better kisser. So it was quite funny knowing what they thought of each other. Then there was this last question of “who’s going to make the first move tonight”……..

Cindy & Kin Khey, here’s hoping to see you end of this year for a maternity shoot yah!

GC Watches

21.02.2011

If you’re into fashion and photography, you’ve probably heard of the Sartorialist, American photographer Scott Schuman who captures the trendiest people on the streets of New York. So when Yun approached me with this style of portraits for the GUESS collection watches, I was stoked! In the midst of the hustle & bustle of star hill walkways and intersections, I photographed 7 very trendy people; Min, Mardi, Rosmie, Reezal, Patricia, Stefanie and Mahalia, all of whom wore their personality on their shoulders. Their unique style and mesh of colors, accessorized with GC watches worked perfectly for the shoot!

Check out the GUESS Collection Watch exhibition  that will be held from this Thursday, Feb 24 till Sunday, Feb 27 at Mid Valley!!!

Swee Yin & Damon are a FIFOTO couple. They got married a few years back and I had shot their wedding and also their family portraits following that. So I was overjoyed to find out about Swee Yin’s pregnancy, a few years later! Talk about good family planning! It was really good to see them again, after so long! This time, Swee Yin was glowing and Damon was his normal old casual self, entertaining himself with his iPhone games while Emilia made the mom-to-be up! And when she took out a scanned image from her ultrasound of what’s cooking in the oven, we immediately knew what we were gonna do with it! (stick it on her tummy with a whole other bunch of post-it fun!) Luckily, they happily agreed to sticking black heavy duty tape on her tummy! (this is why I absolutely love my clients! They are always so sporting, fun and open to almost anything!)

Congrats to the soon-to-be parents!
