Portraits | FIFOTO Blog

The weekend I went to shoot the Tan family was one surprise after another. Mr and Mrs Tan and family, as it turned out, were related to another family that had their pictures taken by FIFOTO. After they had seen the pictures, they decided to have some of their own. When I met Mr Tan we both realized that I’d taught him photography before. It’s a small world after all it seems…

We started with the family portraits because grandma Tan had a strict sleep cycle. Once those were done with, we moved outside to this quaint little backyard. They had 2 lamp posts in their backyard! It was too good to pass up. We had so many crazy ideas that half my job was done for me before I even clicked a shutter. We had Mom and Dad reenact a marriage proposal. We had everyone pile up onto Dad. Everyone started jumping! Amazing energy considering the heat outside! Then we moved indoors and upstairs where we found props for the siblings and basically mucked about. Everyone got into it and I do mean EVERYONE! 2 hours felt like it had 4 hours jammed into it and even at the end we still had ideas. Definitely in the running for craziest shoot…

This week’s SHOOT week. I’ve been shooting since Monday and today’s the first shoot-free day! I’ve been 110% efficient until today (I’m slacking today, taking a break from the 3 days of full-on work!). It’s been 4 days since my 10km Standard Chartered run and I’ve been itching to get back to it! I’ll be running alone (unfortunately) later, well, literally right after this post! It’s addictive, trust me. I told myself last Sunday’s run was going to be my last 10km I’ll ever do (due to the slight lack of confidence because I hadn’t really trained for it, unlike my Energizer race back in March) but all the adrenalin before and after the run, the endorphins and serotonin outburst… it’s just wayyyyy too addictive to stop! Some friends have asked me if I’m gonna start doing a half marathon. By golly NO! I really enjoy the 10km and it’s almost leisurely. And why would anyone want to torture their bodies and run for 2 or more hours? I don’t think my body can take it and I certainly don’t want to try! Perhaps I’ll try improving on my time for my next 10km. Perhaps do it in less than 1 hour the next time round? Speaking of which, WHEN is the next run??

The day of the shoot was the first time I met baby Max in person. I’ve seen how cute he is in photos but he’s just so much cuter in real life! It’s very much also because of his calm and docile nature. He did not cry one bit, from lunch till the end of the shoot. He stared at the lights intensely and frowned after every flash but that was about it. I’m not usually good with babies but it was so easy carrying him. He was still and seemed to enjoy the pampering and all the attention he was getting. Baby Max was unbelievably good and so so so so adorable! Chris & Pearly are such lucky parents! Your job as mommy & daddy made easy!

Congrats to Chris & Pearly on their firstborn, uber-Charming Baby Max!

Looks like daddy?

Pearly, looking radiant and beautiful as ever!

This last shot is my favorite!

TGIF. It was a hectic and stressful week. Amidst the chaos, I learned how to remain calm and collected, (well, I tried my best to be but couldn’t help becoming flustered when I initially found out how so many people in the professional service industry can act in such unprofessional manners!) I’m glad the week is over and I have a weekend free of shoots! Most of all, I’m all excited about my 10km Standard Chartered marathon this Sunday. In spite of the lack of training, I’m all psyched up for it and am waiting for that moment in pure anticipation! This will be my 2nd time taking part in a 10km race and although I have a feeling this would be slightly tougher than the Energizer Night Race, I’m feeling really good about this run, especially coz I’m “running for a cause” and have raised over RM2000 for the Malaysian Association for the Blind. A big THANK YOU, again, to everyone who donated and support my run! YOU ROCK!

There’s only one word to describe Baby Nora. ADORABLE. She’s super cute, thanks to her mixed Malaysian-American parentage. And at 2 months, it was a breeze to shoot her! (although Hana, her mom, was feeling all nervous about it the night before). Oh how time flies! I shot Hana & Michael’s wedding almost 2 years back!

Congrats to Hana & Michael on their little Baby Nora! Pssstttt! You guys are gonna have to keep a close eye on this little one! She will be a heartbreaker!

Hana – Safe trip back to the US!

I love this shot of Nora! Look at her eyes!

Not long after, she fell into a deep deep deep sleep… (which was fun for me too coz I got to take these shots!)

Friday couldn’t come soon enough! Having gone through 4 painful days of lowerback pain (I pulled a muscle from sneezing in a cross-legged position last Sunday during lunch and had to shoot a wedding that evening, which pretty much killed my back!), I’m glad the pain has subsided significantly, just in time for the weekend!  So the week is finally over but my weekend is looking wayyyyy more hectic than the past 5 days, in a good way, of course!

Here’s a portrait shoot I did a couple weeks back for Chaswood Resources, who you may know them better as the people behind TGI Fridays, The Apartment, Italiannies, Laundry, just to name a few. We go back a long way…. back when Laundry first opened, and actually if my memory serves me, even way before Laundry days! Chaswood Resources is a comprised of close knit group and very much family-oriented. Everyone there is warm and friendly and the people I’ve seen and photographed there since day 1, are still the same old friendly faces I see today. Needless to say, it was a pleasure photographing them at the Apartment KLCC that day as I got to catch up with Petrina (brainchild behind Laundry and the Apartment and the rest of it!) and discovered Andrew’s hidden talent for modeling!

Have a great weekend you guys!

This father-daughter pair make a good team. They are so cute and sweet together!

Andrew requested for some “personal” shots for himself…. he’s looking super stylish in his Raybans!
