Dunhill Kaizen

27.03.2009

“Kaizen” is a Japanese term for continuous improvement and is a famous concept adopted by many large manufacturing corporations. One of the most popular case studies we read about in many of my MBA classes is on Toyota’s success with the implementation of this philosophy to reduce costs, improve quality and maximize profits. It’s great to see it being implemented in real life!

British American Tobacco had a company-wide launch for their Kaizen campaign. Initialized by the Operations department, this concept has proven successful and now it’s being adopted by all departments in the company. Employees are encouraged to submit their ideas and spur creative ideas for improvement.

On a personal note, if you’re guessing if I’m already back from my trip, the answer is No! In fact, we should be making our way to Austin now. Steve and I have a wedding to shoot this Saturday! (Preview photos will be posted when I return to HK!) Am excited to be returning to Austin for a visit. The last time I was back was in 2005 for my best friend’s engagement dinner. ( Yes, I am a very good friend to fly all the way to the States for an engagement dinner! It made a very good excuse for going back!) And since her wedding in 2007 was in Arizona, we didn’t have the time to make a trip to Austin two years ago! All the food I want to eat includes – Chik-fil-A (One of my all-time favorite fast food joints next to Mos Burger! We used to doodle their logo in class when we were bored), Hula Hut’s Coconut shrimp, Amy’s Ice cream (brandy flavor with Oreo’s crush ins!), Fuddruckers (Best beefburgers in the world!), Schlotzky’s Deli and if we have time, Quesadillas from Austin Java Co, Le Madeline Salad, Trudy’s for margaritas! We will definitely drop by 4th or 6th street for some Chocolate cake shots!

Ya I know what BAT stands for (they were a client of mine once), and supposedly they have the best corporate rates at the Mandarin Oriental KL (which I didn’t attempt to use). Yes, the photo is really nice. The wedding looks very lovely. Very intimate and comfortable. Can’t wait to see more pics in that post!
